30th July, 2013 marked yet another important day
in the history of Indian football where the young boys (under 16) went out to
battle against Nepal at the Dasharath Stadium in Kathmandu on a rain soaked afternoon.
Indian left back Jerry Lalrinzuala struck a thunderous long
ranger in the 18th minute to script a historic win for India. For
records, India won every game of the tournament they played. Good job boys!
Well for Jerry it was a perfect birthday gift to win the man
of the match award. The 14 yr old impressed quite a few senior Indian football
authorities who had their eye on some players during the tournament.
Boys in blue continued to outperform the Nepalese throughout
the second half as well.
The new Indian boss Wim Koevermans and senior team captain
Sunil Chhetri did well to influence the youngsters before the final.
